General and Extended Locations in Quincy, M.E.

This page lists notable general, recurring, and extended filming locations used in the television series Quincy, M.E.' (1976–1983), both real and fictional. The show was primarily filmed at Universal Studios in Universal City, California, but often included on-location shoots throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.

General Locations

Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office

The central setting of the show. Quincy works here as a forensic pathologist. Most interior scenes were filmed on Stage 25 at Universal Studios, while some exterior shots used studio backlot streets and real L.A. buildings.

Quincy’s Sailboat (Marina del Rey)

Quincy's home is a sailboat docked in the Marina del Rey harbor. Many personal, romantic, and off-duty scenes were shot at the actual marina, making it one of the show’s most iconic recurring locations.

Danny’s Place

A bar and restaurant owned by Quincy's friend Danny Tovo. Served as a social hub for characters throughout the series. Interior scenes were filmed on Stage 25, while exterior shots varied between studio façades and Los Angeles tavern exteriors.

LAPD Homicide Division

Home of Lt. Monahan and Sgt. Brill. Depicted through interior sets built on Universal stages and exterior façades on the backlot (notably Denver Street).

City Morgue Loading Dock

A common location for establishing shots and dramatic confrontations. Often filmed using Universal’s industrial-style façades near New York Street.
