Quincy, M.E. is an American medical mystery-drama television series that aired on NBC from 1976 to 1983. Primary Filming Locations
Marina del Rey, California
Many waterfront scenes, including Quincy’s residence aboard his sailboat, were filmed at the Marina del Rey harbor in Los Angeles County. The boat, a 60-foot schooner originally built in 1935 by Edson B. Schock, became an iconic symbol of the character's lifestyle and independence.[1]
Danny’s Place
"Danny’s Place" is a fictional bar and restaurant owned by Quincy’s friend, Danny Tovo. While interior scenes were filmed at Universal Studios, exterior shots were captured on location in Marina del Rey. It is speculated that the exterior may have been Tony P’s Dockside Grill or a similar establishment.[2]
Medical Examiner’s Office
Exterior shots of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office were filmed at 1 Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood, California. This location doubled for government buildings and featured prominently in several early episodes.[3]
Universal Studios Backlot
A substantial portion of the series was shot on Universal Studios’ backlot in Hollywood. Commonly used areas included:
- Colonial Street – residential neighborhoods and suburban scenes
- Denver Street – urban exteriors and storefronts
